Bowie Community Theatre dedicates this production of Rumors to Neil Simon and congratulates him for being awarded the Kennedy Center's Mark Twain Prize for American humor October 15, 2006.

Four couples go to the townhouse of a deputy New York City mayor and his wife to celebrate their tenth wedding anniversary, but the party never begins because the host has shot himself in the head (he's suffered a flesh wound) and his wife is missing. His lawyer's cover up gets progressively more strained as the other guests arrive, but nobody remembers who said what about whom.

It is with a great smile on my face that I can say I have had the pleasure of directing another Neil Simon play. He is, without question, America's premier comic playwright.

The cast and I had many hours of smiles and laughter during our rehearsals. Neil Simon has the innate ability to take a potential serious situation and turn it into a most comical one. Four couples are at the home of the Deputy Mayor of New York City to celebrate his tenth wedding anniversary and they never expected the evening to turn out quite like it does. Doors slam and hilarity abounds as the couples get more and more crazed. So, our audience, sit back, relax, forget the day's baggage, and ENJOY!
