WATCH

This year, BCT continues our participation with 28 other Greater Washington DC area community theatre groups as part of the Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) to promote excellence in community theatre in the Washington DC area.

The Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) is an organization founded for the adjudication and presentation of annual awards recognizing artistic and technical excellence in community theatre throughout the metropolitan Washington, D.C. area, and that these honors will: Foster and encourage the growth of community theater; Promote and enhance the image of community theater; and Educate and inform the general public about the theatrical opportunities provided by the member theaters.

Joining WATCH gives BCT the opportunity to be judged for annual awards and recognition through a peer evaluation process. Please contact us if you are interested in being a WATCH judge. This is a good way to become familiar with the offerings of many of the primary community theatres in the greater Washington area.

AACT

ACT

BCT is proud to be a member of the American Association of Community Theatre. The American Association of Community Theatre provides networking, resources and support to suit the needs of all those involved in community theatre. ACT also advocates for comunity theatre with local, state or national governments, or with business and community leaders.

ASCAP

ASCAP

The American Society of Composers, Authors and Publishers (ASCAP) Community Theatre license through AACT covers BCT's royalties for copyrighted pre-show, intermission, and post-show music such as CD's and tapes. ASCAP is a membership association of more than 380,000 U.S. composers, songwriters, lyricists, and music publishers of every kind of music. Through agreements with affiliated international societies, ASCAP also represents hundreds of thousands of music creators worldwide. ASCAP is the only U.S. performing rights organization created and controlled by composers, songwriters and music publishers, with a Board of Directors elected by and from the membership. ASCAP protects the rights of its members by licensing and distributing royalties for the non-dramatic public performances of their copyrighted works. ASCAP's licensees encompass all who want to perform copyrighted music publicly. ASCAP makes giving and obtaining permission to perform music simple for both creators and users of music.
