R. A. R. E. Photographic Order Form Richard & Ann Rohlfing
For the past 17 years the Rohlfings have run their own photography business named R.A.R.E. Photographic (Richard and Ann Rohlfing Enterprise). Their oldest ongoing clients include a restorer of carousel horses, a designer of beauty salons, and a designer and manufacturer of underwater robotic machinery. They have also photographed 160+ quilts for a large coffeetable-type book titled, "A Maryland Album." This book chronicles the history of Maryland through family quilts from 1634 through 1934. All photographs were taken with a 4X5 studio camera on transparency film.
Richard , an experienced darkroom printer, is now comfortable with digital photography, learning much from the Web and fellow photographers. He led a year-long concentration on digital photography for their camera club in Maryland. His special interests include architecture (especially churches), portraiture, macro, and quadtone printing. Ann is a Maryland University graduate. She majored in studio art and minored in biological sciences. Later she added evening classes in photography from University College, and Montgomery County's adult education program. Her main interest is nature and landscape photography, but she also enjoys handcoloring. Ann is a bit more reluctant to leave the darkroom magic behind, but is now also exploring the digital realm.
The Rohlfings are experienced teachers with the Elderhostel program. They have taught photography for 10 years on Jekyll Island, GA, for South Georgia College, and have recently added Trinity College in Washington, DC to their schedule. Together they have presented photography programs to camera clubs and civic groups on a variety of subjects, including general photography, close-up, large format, exposure, travel, and portraiture.
