Bowie Playhouse

Our productions are in the Bowie Playhouse, operated by the City of Bowie. We are fortunate to share the use of the Bowie Playhouse with two other community theatre groups, 2nd Star Productions, and Prince George's Little Theatre (PGLT). We thank them for the assistance they provide to some of our productions including costumes, props, set construction, and strike.

The Bowie Playhouse is the home for three community theatre groups:

"The Kitchen Witches" by Caroline Smith

Our next production is "The Kitchen Witches" by Caroline Smith, directed by Estelle Miller. Isobel Lomax and Dolly Biddle are two "mature" rival cable-access cooking show hostesses who have hated each other for 30 years, ever since Stephen Biddle dated one and married the other. After an unpleasant confrontation puts them together in front of a live audience, the network decides to give them their own cooking show called "The Kitchen Witches." Dolly's long-suffering TV producer son tries to keep them on track, but it proves to be a losing battle. What ensues are insults and food fights and a secret from their past revealed. You become the studio audience in this dysfunctional cooking show. Winner 2005 Samuel French, Canadian Play Contest. More information

WATCH Logo

This year, BCT continues our participation with 28 other Greater Washington DC area community theatre groups as part of the Washington Area Theatre Community Honors (WATCH) to promote excellence in community theatre in the Washington DC area. Joining WATCH gives BCT the opportunity to be judged for annual awards and recognition through a peer evaluation process. Please contact us if you are interested in being a WATCH judge. This is a good way to become familiar with the offerings of many of the primary community theatre's in the greater Washington area.
